Grocery stores are open from 8am – 8 pm Mon – Sat. 8am – 10am on Sundays.

If your flight arrives Sunday afternoon and you would like to have some groceries in your room for that day, we will be happy to shop for you. We suggest water, milk, coffee, sugar, tea, bread, eggs, etc. whatever you like.

The local mailboat arrives in Salt Pond on Wednesdays therefore we recommend shopping on this day to get the freshest produce and refrigerated products.

There is a limited choice of wines available on the island so if you have a favorite bring a bottle with you.

Most places serve Kalik and Sands beers (Bahamian), Heineken, Budweiser, Bud Lite, Corona, Guiness, Becks and a few others.

Some events can be arranged in advance upon request. We also have available onsite – bicycles, a canoe and snorkel gear. We definitely recommend a visit our museum/library which is located in Buckley’s. Here you can take a tour and learn about the island and its culture. You may also purchase souvenirs, straw work and some local art. SCUBA For the scuba divers at heart; Long Island has some of the best dive sites in the Bahamas offered through Stella Maris Resort Dive Facility. A few of them are listed below. Conception Island Wall, Grouper Valley, HMS Southampton, Shark Reef, Ship's Graveyard and Rum Cay Wall .

Rental Cars

Please note: Holidays falling on a Saturday or Sunday are usually celebrated on the following Monday. Holidays falling on Tuesday/Wednesday/
Thursday – Tuesday holidays are usually celebrated on Mondays.
Wednesday & Thursday holidays will be celebrated on Friday (with the exception of Independence Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day).
Banks/businesses (and many shops) are closed on Public Holidays.
